Users may not be able to edit or update calendar events if they do not have the required permissions or if they are not the organiser of the event. Access Practice Management restricts event editing to the event organiser unless the correct permissions are applied.
Common symptoms include:
Users cannot save or modify calendar events
Users cannot edit tasks
Error message: “Review the following fields – Description”
Error message: “Only event organizers can update this field”
Users cannot edit diary entries created by other staff members
To resolve these issues, ensure the affected users have the correct permissions in Access Practice Management.
To view, add, edit events on other users calendars a user requires:
Edit Tasks and Edit Events permissions, AND
OWD Calendar sharing defaults.
Edit Tasks and Edit Events permissions is already included in the Access Practice Management Platform User profile, So there won't be any changes required.
For enabling OWD Calendar sharing defaults, follow the steps below:
Click on Setup (Cogwheel) at the top right of the screen.
In the quick find box on the far left, type Sharing, and then select Sharing Settings.
Click on the small Edit button in the middle of the page.
Scroll through the list of objects until you find Activity, next to it on the right will be a drop down box in the Default Internal Access column, change this to Controlled by Parent.
Find Calendar in the Object column and select Show Details and Add Events from the drop down box on the right in the Default Internal Access column.
Once the changes have been made, Click the Save button at the top.
Two exceptions to editing are:
The event or activity is assigned to another user and flagged as Private, OR
The user does not have permission to access the Client related to the event or activity assigned to another user.
